Our founder Kingdom grew up in South Africa and one of his happiest childhood memories was playing at Grandmas house with his sisters, racing round the garden and enjoying the sunshine. One of their jobs was to pick the lychees from the trees so Grandma could take them to market, it’s this fond memory that started our search to create the perfect Lychee Gin to join our range of flavours. The search for the most authentic flavour and taste hasn’t been easy but we think we have created a special gin with a fruity, unique taste that invokes all those memories of fun, sunshine, good times and family.
As with all our spirits from Kingdom Recommends this gin has been created with a really smooth finish which makes this Lychee Gin work well on its own over ice, just breathe in that amazing aroma and you will be transported, or it can be mixed with your favourite mixer for a refreshing long drink. We recommend you mix our Lychee Gin with a Mediterranean tonic which complements the flavour beautifully. And for the final touch crush a few fresh raspberries in your glass to really bring out the flavour of the lychees. Our Lychee Gin has been patiently distilled and created in small batches of only around 250 bottles at a time. We’re not a major producer, we believe that small batch distilling allows us to create flavours and tastes that are exactly what our customers want, and we know we’ve got a hit on our hands when we get face to face feedback from our customers about how great the flavour of our Lychee Gin is. Many hours of distilling, sampling and development go into every gin that Kingdom Recommends produce, we like it that way, we know we are offering you a great product. That’s what we stand for, quality products, created with you the customer in mind and getting customer feedback is the cornerstone of the way we do business, so please leave us a review on Trustpilot when you’ve sampled our Lychee Gin and let us know what you think.
We regularly publish cocktail recipes on our website and if you follow us on social media you’ll be one of the first to hear about all our new developments, meet the family and by checking out our events calendar you can see where you can find us while we are out and about travelling the country taking part in shows and events, we would love it if you could stop by and say hello. Our award winning gins have already been recognised as winners at the Global Spirits Masters in 2021 and already in 2022 we have picked up awards at the IWSC, International Spirits Challenge and the People’s Choice Spirits Awards, recognition of the effort, time and expertise that has gone into making us a new business to watch. Whilst we are thrilled to be recognised in this way, especially for a business launched in December 2020, it’s you, our customers who give us the best feedback and we love it, so what are you waiting for, join the tribe and enjoy the ride.
In May, 2000 an 18 year old, South African boy arrived in London, England. He was here to further his education, to study politics and history, so that he could better his life, pursue a career in government and support his family at home.
When he arrived his visit did not go to plan, the friends he thought he had to stay with could not be found and instead of being met by familiar faces, he found himself alone in an unknown city, with little money and no where to go. The money he had, had been borrowed from a family friend, he didn’t want to use it, waste it as he knew it needed to be repaid, so after a 13 hour flight, he got his bags and walked the streets of London.
3 weeks passed by, he phoned his mum, crying, he told her he was sorry, but he couldn’t go on, England was not the place he had heard it was, he was tired, the streets were lonely, he was lonely and he didn’t know where he belonged or what he could do, it was a dark time. His mum was worried, there were no mobile phones and she had no way of contacting him, it was 4 weeks before she heard from him again and this is what had happened during that time…..
After he ended the phone call a man approached the boy and asked him if he was ok, it was that moment of kindness that lasted for ever. After talking together, the boy explained he had nothing and all he wanted to do was provide and support his family. They spoke at length about the world and opportunity within it, then the man offered him a life line. He gave him the opportunity of work, he gave him a chance, a job and reminded him to believe in himself.
20 years on and a lot has changed, but the story of one mans belief in another shows how people continue to have faith in one another’s dream.
